Lake Anna Fireworks 2020 Information

The 23rd annual Lake Anna Fireworks show will be held on Saturday, July 4th at 9:15pm from Dike 2.  The shoot is primarily visible by water from both sides of the lake.  The show is fully funded by donations from Lake Anna friends and family and coordinated by the Lake Anna Civic Association (LACA).  In case of inclement weather, a decision about the shoot will be made by noon July 4th.

The fireworks shoot is completely funded from donations made specifically to pay for the show with solicitation letters sent out during the first half of May.  No other LACA funds are used to support it.  Generous responses from property owners around the lake make the annual event possible.  You can make a donation to the show online here and select "Fireworks".

Planning for the show begins a year in advance and a safety meeting is held to coordinate local fire departments, law enforcement and other first responders.  The committee organizes workers to set up and clean up after the shoot.

The show is typically held on the Saturday closest to July 4th at 9:15 P.M.  It is shot from Dike 2, making it visible to residents and visitors from both the public and private sides of the lake.  However, no general parking is available.  It is a boating event or visible from shoreline properties nearby.

A decision on whether to proceed with the shoot in case of pending inclement weather is made by noon on the day of the shoot.  Notification is made through LACA e-grams and posts on the Facebook page and website.  A rain date is typically the following Saturday.

A local contractor for Lakehouse Builders happened upon a newborn fawn that was stuck in a ditch.  Its mother was spotted across the road, but the fawn was panicked and couldn't move.  Michael Cummings leapt into action, rescued the fawn out of the steep gully and placed it across the road, where the mother was pacing frantically in the distance.  Mike stuck around to make sure the mother would reunite with the fawn.  Eventually, the mother came to nudge the little one up on its feet.  A happy ending today, thanks to someone who was excited to help.

Lake Anna's Public Fishing Area at Dike 3

Lake Anna can be a fisherman's dream, but if you're not set up with your own boat or watercraft, a popular question is "Where can I fish Lake Anna?"  One solution for this query is the public fishing area at Dike 3.  Fishing license required, as always, and use caution as the water can be a bit rough in this area!  There is a large parking lot for your convenience.  The map below shows the general location of the spot.
